Drug awareness workshops picking up steam... - 5th September 2014

The drug awareness workshops coordinated by 2nd-Chance for the Alviro Petersen Foundation is picking up steam in the Northern Areas of Port Elizabeth.

Communities such as Gelvandale and surrounding areas are struggling with drugs and gangsterism, especially in schools and the community itself.

2nd-Chance together with the Alviro Petersen foundation, already coordinated 3 workshops at several schools in Gelvandale and Algoa-Park.

The duration of these workshops range from 3-5 days and the next workshop will take place sometime next month.

Jarryd Smith from 2nd-Chance said: "I was blown away by the response we receive from pupils and teachers from all the schools we visited. It is heart warming to know that together with the Alviro Petersen Foundation, we are making a difference in the lives of many."

Rob Hodson, the Chairman of the Alviro Petersen Foundation said: "We can see the unbelievable impact this initiative is having in the community. I am pleased with the progress and we are looking forward to the months ahead. We will continue the fight against drugs, and alcohol abuse. Furthermore, thank you to Jarryd and 2nd-Chance for coordinating these workshops on our behalf."
